So about that February one...

We are nearing the end of February...and I feel a bit like most people that make resolutions.  Grrr...epic fail.  I really tried my best on this one.

Like a lot of things in my life, some days I remembered, some days I completely forgot, and on some days I barely saw the bf for more than ten minutes.  Making time for him or us is hard with our son around and add to that a full-time graduate school schedule and if I remember to shower or feed Jack it's pretty much miraculous.

We have still yet to do anything for V-day.  I hope that will be remedied this weekend when Jack goes to his grandma's.  But I think I let something happen that makes up for my failed resolution.  I let the bf buy a TV.  Not just any TV, but the TV he's been dreaming of, online shopping for, and begging me to let him get for two years. And in all it's 55 inch glory it's in our tiny, tiny office.  So there goes 28 day of niceness in one 55 inch package.  I could have done better, but he's happy I assure you and I still have ten days left...

I can do it...or you can make fun of me.

My month-by-month resolutions:

January: Think of eleven do-able resolutions.
February: Do something nice for the bf every single day.
March: Garden, garden, garden.
April: Enjoy the weather with Jack (get outside every day)/Two birds with one stone: Exercise every single day.
May: Party planning (for three).
June: Take Jack somewhere new twice per week (the zoo, the children's museum, parks, etc.)
July: Learn how to can things (yumm spaghetti sauce and salsa all winter long).
August: No soda August.
September: Impress the bf...wear something sexy (def on 9/21...but also on some other days too).
October: Finish Christmas shopping.
November: Learn how to cook thanksgiving dinner, for real.
December: Create five holiday traditions.

This is not a resolution, but maybe it should be.

I'm obsessed with polyvore...

..and spring..and the possibility of clothes that fit.  I also need rain boots or as the brits call them, wellies, for such things as blizzards, cold rainy days and gardening.  My giant child and I will have wellies by the spring, not matching, unless they make adult frog ones.

Oh I'm a bridesmaid...

So I'm a bridesmaid in one of my best friend's upcoming wedding.  It's not until October and I have lots of working out to do before then...but that's not stopping me from drooling over pretty eggplant dresses.  The bridesmaids get to pick out whatever dress they want as long as they aren't too formal and are a deep shade of purple.  I'm wasting sooo much time with this one.  And to top it off  I've found the most amazing thing ever...moodboards.  Love it!

Here's looking at you 2011.

I left off the blog with a post about all the things I had accomplished in 2009.  The list is a bit quirky to say the least.  I'd like to ask that anything written while I shared my body with the giant be forgiven.  My brain along with the rest of me, went a bit wonky.

And now...adios to you 2010...

1.  Birthed a baby.  Kind of.  AKA labored for 23 hours before having my, too big to be technically birthed from my body, baby literally cut out of me.  Gross I know..and it happened to me.
2.  Grad school oh how I played you.  Baby...check.  Significant other that works 60 hours a week...check.  Housewife duties (ha.)...check.  4.0....check.  Burn USC...burn.
3.  Breastfeeding.  Another kind of gross thing, but an accomplishment none-the-less.  Especially when we consider how very large my breastmilk fed only child is.
4.  Motherhood.  I'm probably not the greatest, but at least no one has called child services.  He may be a bit spoiled and a bit of a mama's boy, but he is healthy and happy.
5.  I'm ok.  It's a weird accomplishment I know, but my life plans went to hell last year 2009-2010 was a very weird time for me.  I am a planner.  I have this mental list of certain things that are supposed to happen at certain times and life set it on fire.  So now I'm just dealing with things as they happen.  I have a tentative plan, but I'm also prepared for that to blow up in my face...just in case.  I've let go of things a bit and become a little more relaxed and I'm happier for it.

Short list considering how much  my life changed last year.  But this is it.  I'm a new person.  I hope 2011 is not that crazy, but who knows.  Oh and I'm not even attempting to make resolutions.  Not worth my time.  I am thinking about doing something similar to Katie over at Bower Power:  Katie's resolutions.  I think it is very cool and a bit less or more crazy I guess depending...to have little monthly goals instead of some big resolution that will probably never get a second thought after January 31, 2011.  I'll get back to you on the other eleven, but January's resolution...drum roll please....to think of eleven do-able, positive change resolutions.  Lame I know, I'll try to make the rest less lame, more of you guys saying...oh that's such a great idea...I wish I could be more like her.  Oh dreams.

Anyhoo...to send you off....Happy post-holidays and here's to a great 2011....

it's been a year. and yeah it's complicated.

I've neglected my duties.  I'm one of the thousands, maybe millions, that started a blog and left it.  Poor ode to beginnings...I left you out in the big, scary, lonely internets.  My writing skills are starting to rust and possible fall off.  But now I'm back...I hope, to hone my skill and not just be telling a half truth when I say I'm a "writer."  So add the ode to your google readers and I'll try to be interesting.  And not talk about a certain boy whose names rhymes with back (I'll leave that to me and him + 1).
